When you put a new product (or in our case a new app) into the market it’s good to write a press release and distribute it to bloggers and journalists through specialized services such as PR Web. We have done this for Photo Stats and we’ve got some amazing numbers. It had 144,488 impressions and was ‘read’ 1,681 times, being picked up by 80 sites.
But, although these reports looked great, real results were not so favorable. In effect, it did little to promote the app and contribute to the numbers of actual downloads, thus helping us to get into the New and noteworthy on App Store.

Let’s face it. Most of the apps on the App Store are just for fun. 8 of the Top 10 paid apps are games. But this doesn’t mean that there are no great apps out there which make you more productive or help you in your business life.
Actually, there are hundreds of apps like this, but what we don’t like about many of those apps is that developers sometimes seem to forget how important design of the interface is. We dare to say that sometimes, for an app the interface is more important than the features itself. But the combination of good features and great design are what any developer should aim at. The following apps are great examples of how good features should be blended with great design to make our (business) lives more productive.

How to get into the New and Noteworthy on App Store with a paid app: plan your release
First of all you’ll have to make a detailed plan of how you’ll promote your app starting from week -1 (the week before you app is approved) through Day D when it appears at the store (you can take Thursday in the week after you’ve submitted the app as the most likely day for this to happen), and week-by-week until week 4.
